We are excited to welcome the newest addition to our team at Rejuvenation Dermatology Burnaby, Dr. Harry Liu! Dr. Liu brings an impressive background in medical, surgical, and pediatric dermatology, with specialized expertise in treating chronic inflammatory skin conditions, acne and rosacea, skin of colour dermatology, skin cancer surveillance, and the elective surgical removal of benign skin lesions.
Educational Background
Dr. Liu completed his dermatology residency at the University of British Columbia. He holds a Bachelor of Science from McGill University and a medical degree from the University of Alberta. During his residency, Dr. Liu trained with internationally renowned dermatologists in cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, hidradenitis suppurativa, skin of colour, laser surgery, and scar treatment.
Prestigious Training
Additionally, Dr. Liu trained at prestigious institutions such as the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also trained at the University of Washington, Cosmetic Laser Dermatology in San Diego, Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea, and the First Affiliated Hospital at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China.
Research and Contributions
Dr. Liu actively contributes to scientific research. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in complex medical dermatology, medical education, and cosmetics. Moreover, he has presented his work at notable conferences like the World Congress of Dermatology, the American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting, and the Canadian Dermatology Association Annual Conference. His exceptional work earned him the “Rising Derm Star” award twice from the Fall Clinical Conference committee.
Teaching and Mentorship
Dr. Liu dedicates himself to teaching and mentorship. He guides many students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds to pursue careers in medicine across Canada. The Canadian Federation of Medical Students recognized his commitment to medical education by nominating him as a “Culture Changer in Medical Education.”
Areas of Interest
His interests include skin of colour, pigmentary disorders, and atopic dermatitis. Dr. Liu also focuses on innovative laser treatments for challenging skin conditions. Dr. Liu’s favourite part of his job is accompanying patients on their journey toward achieving clear and healthy skin.
